Nowadays news are in about illegal mining in Print and electronic media.Be it in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh or Goa. Next destination of illegal mining is Maharashtra state.Also illegal mining is rampant in Orrisa,Jharkhand states. But one factor is missing in all the news about illegal mining. That is looting of nation's wealth by Private companies,Corrupt Politicians and buerocrats.
All Indian Citizens should understand that Minerals are our own Property.This natural wealth should not be allowed to be looted by corrupt politicians and private companies. Our natural wealth is exported,by paying paltry royalty sums to the governtments and huge profits generated is pocketed by these private companies and may be by corrupt politicians who sanctions all necessary licenses.This has to be stopped.
We indians should pressurise the government to change laws in mining sector. There should be auction for licensing and export should be totally banned.(Especially scarse minerals like iron ore,Manganese etc.) Mining should be allowed as per the internal consumption requirements only. Government should be party to the mining activity, so that the profits generated can be utilised for the indians.By this we can have enough buffer stock for our future requirements. Otherwise in another 15-20 years we will compelled to import these minerals for our requirements as our stocks are exhausted by then.
